Peru
Surf for Life works in two locations in Peru: the northern coastal town of Lobitos with Waves Lobitos and the Sacred Valley in Cusco with the Andean Alliance for Sustainable Development.
Lobitos is a small fishing town in the Piura region, not far from the Ecuadorian border. Originally built as a British oil town, following the coup in the 1960s it has been repopulated with local fishermen and surfers.
Our non profit community partner, WAVES Lobitos, has been working in the community since 2004. With the support of volunteers, private and collective contributions, they contribute to the communal and individual development of the people of Lobitos, especially of the children. Their mission is to understand the culture and the community's needs, focusing on health, education and young people.
