Friends,
We are going on a volunteering trip in September 2017, to help build a preschool in the village of 'Utungake on the island of Vava'u, Kingdom of Tonga. The Tongan village of 'Utungake suffers an extremely high rate of unemployment, especially amongst women, because there is no convenient option for early childcare. By building a functioning preschool in the community we will provide access to education for young children and will employ local women as teachers and caretakers.
Instead of solely donating money to this cause we want to give back, by giving our time and energy into building something to change the future of the children in 'Utungake, Tonga. We have committed to raising $5,000 to go towards the construction of the preschool. Any contribution you can make is greatly appreciated. All donations are 100% tax deductible.
If you do plan to donate and your company supports matching donations, then please consider doubling your contribution by applying for a matching donation.
Hope Corps, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, supports community projects in coastal communities throughout the developing world. By working with local stakeholders to address their most pressing self-identified needs, Hope Corps projects focus primarily on increasing access to education, health, and economic development. This process of building local capacity and community cohesion results in tangible projects such as the construction of schools, health clinics, and community centers.
Hope Corps projects are made a reality solely through the hard work and fundraising efforts of passionate partners and volunteers. Teams of 8-12 volunteers at a time work side-by-side with local community members on-site throughout the construction process. Your contribution will not only directly support the construction of these projects, but also build lasting local capacity and powerful cultural exchange.
Thanks so much for helping make this happen! :)
