The growing surf community of El Paredon is situated on the pacific coast of Guatemala about 2.5 hours from Guatemala City. Fishing and agriculture are the main industries but as word of mouth travels, surfing and tourism as local livelihoods, are gaining momentum. 

Surf For Life and Choza Chula (the only NGO in the community forging partnership with the local population) has worked together with the Ministry of Education, town mayor, and local community to build the first and only high school in the community, in addition to constructing new classrooms, a computer lab and setting up irrigation for the community school garden. Not to mention assisting in the local turtle conservation projects.
