Peru

Surf for Life works in two locations in Peru: the northern coastal town of Lobitos with Waves Lobitos and the Sacred Valley in Cusco with the Andean Alliance for Sustainable Development.

The Sacred Valley outside of Cusco is known as the breadbasket of the Incas: a picturesque valley that sits at 10,000 ft above sea level and is rich in history and archeological ruins, the most famous of which is Machu Picchu. Our community partner, the Andean Alliance for Sustainable Development works in the valley’s high-altitude, Quechua campesino communities. AASD and Surf for Life worked together to complete 3 projects in the area since 2018, including a dormitory for rural farmers to stay in while learning sustainable farming practices, a retaining walls for garden areas, and an irrigation system for the more rural communities in the valley.
